Q. Why was this fund created?
A. The fund was created in the memory of three individuals who dedicated their lives to the continued success and growth of the confectionery industry. Allen Allured and his parents, Prudence & Earl Allured, felt that strong education programs, widely available, help to ensure a vibrant and everlasting industry.
Q. What is the value of the grant and how many will there be each year?
A. Each grant will be for $500.00. The number of grants will depend on qualified applicants and the interest income from the donations to the fund.
Q. Which events are qualified for this grant?
A. Qualified events are sponsored by one of these organizations: American Association of Candy Technologists (AACT), Fine Chocolate Industry Association (FCIA), National Confectioners Association (NCA), PMCA (An International Organization of Confectioners), Retail Confectioners International (RCI). Examples of qualified events include the AACT Annual Technical Seminar, the spring and fall FCIA sessions, NCA webinars and educational events, PMCA Production Conference, RCI Short Courses. This list is representative, not exhaustive.
Q. I don’t belong to any of the listed organizations, am I still eligible?
A. It is not necessary to be a member of any of these organizations. The listed organizations all provide educational events that are qualified for this grant.
Q. I don’t have a company affiliation, am I still eligible?
A. These grants are available to people currently working within the confectionery industry as well as people who have a strongly demonstrated interest in working in the confectionery industry.
Q. Is this grant available only to United States citizens?
A. The grant is available to anyone residing in the United States.
Q. Is this grant available for attending events outside the United States?
A. The grant is only available for events that take place in the United States.
Q. When is the application deadline?
A. Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis. Please plan to submit your application at least 6 weeks in advance of the event you desire to attend.
Q. When and how will the grants be made?
A. The grants will be determined shortly after applications are reviewed.
Q. I am interested in contributing to the fund, how would I go about making a donation?
A. Donations are gladly accepted; Al, Prudence and Earl would be honored.
